Corey had a birthday party for his son Cody a couple of weeks ago at the Orange County Buddhist Church. It was a great party. I think we found a new way to measure the success of a party, the number of hula dances that are performed, and the number of bottles of Johnnie Walker that are consumed.

The Hui o Aloha Golf Club Hula Dancers danced e huli makou with Uncle Bobby. Nobody can shake it like Uncle Bobby but with a few more drinks I’m sure we could have come close!! The party was catered by Kevin G.’s dad and Ohana who did a wonderful job with the dinner as usual.

Tommy Lo became a grandpa about a month ago. He’s got a new granddaughter. Tommy said he and his wife are fighting over who gets to carry the baby the most. I think a Chinese Princess is in the making.

Finally, Uncle Bobby had a surprise 80th birthday party last weekend at Oiwake restaurant in Little Tokyo. He was definitely shocked and surprised. In typical fashion, Uncle Bobby went straight to the bar and grabbed his two Bud Lights and a cup of ice. Hui o Aloha Golf Club Hula Dancers made another cameo appearance but this time they were accompanied by the singing of several other members of the Aloha Golf Club. I think we need to start practicing for Merrie Monarch!!! There were also other clubs and individuals that also did song and dance numbers. It was a fitting tribute to somebody that is so active in the Asian Community. It wouldn’t surprise me if Aunty Marion had Uncle Bobby’s party at the Staples Center when he turns 90.
