Well it seems like it was a year ago since we played Hidden Valley. This was a new course that was added to our rotation. Most avid golfers know that this was the course that was infamous for the pup tent scandal. So while many were taking in the breathtaking views others were letting their imaginations run wild with thoughts of where could they possibly have put a tent on this hole? And while some were thinking is this an uphill or downhill putt others were wondering if this was a blonde or brunette hole!!
There were many delusions of grandeur...drivable par 4’s...reachable par 5’s...accessible par 3’s….
Here are a few stories….so I’m reaching Hole No. 5 which is a drivable Par 4 and my buddy Steve G. who was playing in the group in front of me tells our foursome that the green was reachable for everyone but me...so I just had to hit the ball 12 feet from the hole to deliver a plate of Hidden Valley Crow to my buddy Steve...I missed the putt for eagle but seeing the look on Steve’s face was priceless.
I didn’t see this one but I heard this story in the club house. Apparently Bill K...STIFFED it on the Stick hole...it was close enough that Bill was seen tugging pretty hard at the stick...some in the group suggested he give the stick a “Hand Job” others suggested maybe a little “Oral” could possibly get the Stick to get longer but Bill was level headed and gave up after his wrist got sore from tugging at the stick…
So while others were imagining what could have been. Two guys got down to business and managed to tie for the monthly ace….Danny Chang and Eric Bilonta played some extremely good golf that day….normally they would play off at the next tournament but Danny was unable to play off at the next tournament because of some commitments he had in Hawaii so Eric was handed the ace.
It couldn’t have gone to a nicer guy.
